Sox was found by a kind stranger in the trailer park where she lived. She said that someone actually “dumped” Sox out in front of her home. Sox stayed with her for about a week while she tried to find a home for her. After exhausting all of her contacts, she brought her to the shelter where more people could meet her. The shelter made sure that Sox had all of her vaccinations, she had a microchip, and she was spayed. Sox is not an adult cat, but she is not a kitten either! She is a “teenage” kitten! She is full of fun, love, purrs, and kisses!

The placement of our adoptable animals into loving, caring homes and thereby enhancing the bond between animals and people is the primary goal of the Montgomery Humane Society Adoption Program. We focus on education so that every pet owner benefits from their contact with the shelter, whether or not they adopt an animal from us. Matching the needs of the animal and the potential owner, as well as educating potential owners about responsible pet ownership, helps to ensure successful pet placements of shelter animals.

The Montgomery Humane Society prevents cruelty to animals by operating an animal shelter for homeless, abandoned, and unwanted animals; by operating an adoption center for healthy animals; by investigating cruelty and abuse cases; and by educating the public in animal owner responsibility.
