My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Fig — Your Future Lap Companion

Fig is a gentle, soulful 3-year-old beauty weighing about 9 pounds, fully vaccinated, spayed, and microchipped. She started life as a single kitten brought into a Jacksonville, FL, city shelter and was lovingly raised in foster care surrounded by other cats and dogs. While she has experience living with other animals, Fig’s heart truly belongs to her people — she thrives most when she can be close, cozy, and doted on.

Fig would be happiest in a calm home where she can be someone’s one-and-only feline companion. She’s especially well-suited for someone who works from home, is retired, or simply wants a loyal little shadow to share their days. Her favorite place? Curled up in a warm lap, soaking up love and giving it right back.

Fig is currently with a caring foster family in Florida who is committed to finding her the perfect forever home — and they are willing to travel for the right match.

If you’re looking for a devoted, affectionate companion who will make your house feel more like home, Fig might be your girl. To apply to adopt her, please go to www.northstarpets.org and be sure to ask for XP FIG!

More about this rescue

In many areas of the country, especially in the South, the situation for animals is desperate: Chained outside and starving, homeless and running loose, or just simply no longer wanted and abandoned in an overburdened and underfunded facility that can’t possibly take another. For these animals, there is not much hope…except to look in the night sky for the North Star, their only way out. We are a group of passionate volunteers committed to saving these innocent dogs and finding them a new forever home. NorthStar Pet Rescue was founded in 2017, and although we might be a relatively new name among New Jersey animal rescues, you may recognize some of us from the work we’ve done volunteering with other rescues to help animals over the past decade. We are 100% dedicated to operating in an safe, transparent, and ethical manner and to ensuring the best veterinary practices are followed with regards to the care and transport of our animals. NorthStar Pet Rescue is IRS 501(c)(3) charitable organization (EIN: 81-5348036).
