My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Diabetes Insipidous

I am a cute cuddly boy.  A little short which makes me look younger than I am!
I love to play and run either by myself or with a playmate.  So far I only know cats and kids. i haven’t met any dogs so I am not sure that I like them.

The most important thing to know about me is that I have diabetes insipidous.

Diabetes insipidus (DI) is an endocrine disorder that affects the body's ability to regulate water balance, leading to excessive thirst (polydipsia) and urination (polyuria).
In my case, it is caused by a deficiency in the production or release of antidiuretic hormone (ADH) from the pituitary gland.

The symptoms are:
Excessive thirst and water consumption
Frequent urination, often dilute and clear, and
Dehydration (if not treated).

Treatment:
Replacement therapy with synthetic ADH (desmopressin)

Prognosis:
With proper treatment, most cats with DI can live long and healthy lives. Regular monitoring and medication administration are essential for managing the condition.

Additional Information:
DI is a rare condition in cats.
It can occur at any age, but is more common in young cats.
Early diagnosis and treatment are crucial to prevent complications, such as dehydration and electrolyte imbalances.

I have been taking Desmopressin since I was 2 months old and it controls the DI.
I get 2 drops in each eye, twice each day.

My medication costs about $100/month.

If my special need is one that you can handle, please come and meet me!

I'm very affectionate and would love to be your lap kitty and roam our home together!

I do love my foster mom but she has lots of foster cats so we all have to share her time!  I guess I'm a little selfish because I want to be number one kitty in my own human's life

I am so cute I think you will love me

More about this rescue

We are a small feline rescue and adoption organization in Locust Grove, VA. Our mission is to provide kittens and cats necessary veterinary treatment and a foster home until placed in an approved adoptive home. Cats and kittens receive basic vetting which includes spay/neuter, rabies vaccination, FVRCP vaccination, FIV/FeLk testing, and regular treatment for fleas, worms, and ear mites prior to adoption. All of our recent kittens/cats are microchipped. We have cages in the adoption center at the PetSmart store in Central Park, Fredericksburg and sometimes in Culpepper. We also initiate adoptions through email contact from our website or our Facebook page. Potential adopters meet our cats and kittens in a foster home and may complete the adoption process there as well. We hold adoption events on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of every month at the Central Park PetSmart in Fredericksburg.
