My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sweet Tooth
Age: 19 weeks
Weight: 9.6 lbs
Vetted & Microchipped
Fostered in: Morris County, NJ
Available in: NY, NJ, CT, PA, ME, VT, VA, DE, MD, RI, NH
Apply: houndsinpounds.org

Sweet Tooth is a 9.6lb dessertthemed delight with the comedic timing of a cartoon character and the confidence of someone who has never paid a bill. She is sweet, she is funny, she is cute, and she is absolutely convinced she is the main character in every room she enters — and honestly, she’s not wrong.

She’s also good with dogs and cats, which means she’s fully prepared to charm your entire household, steal their hearts, and then act like she’s been running the place since the early 2000s.

And because her name is Sweet Tooth, she has fully committed to the bit: she will stare at you with such sugary intensity that you’ll genuinely wonder if you need to schedule a dentist appointment. One look at her and suddenly you’re like, “Why do my molars hurt? Did this puppy just give me a cavity?” Even your dentist would be like, “Yeah… that’s plaquelevel cute.”

Daily Sweet Tooth Shenanigans
Sweet Tooth is a walking comedy special. Some of her signature moves include:
Zoomies powered by pure Capri Sun energy
Forgetting she has legs, wiping out, then blaming you for it
Making tiny gremlin squeaks when excited — which is always
Dramatically flopping midwalk like a Victorian child fainting from emotion
“Helping” with chores by inserting herself directly into the center of whatever you’re doing

She is a baby marshmallow with a sense of humor, a pocketsized clown, and a tiny chaos goblin wrapped in frosting. Gremlin energy, but make it adorable.

Why She’s Perfect
Sweet Tooth is the ideal blend of snuggly, silly, and unhingedinacuteway. She’ll follow you around like you’re the last cookie in the jar, curl up like a warm croissant for naps, and keep you laughing even on the days when nothing else does.

She’s ready to be your emotional support dessert, your sidekick, your shadow, and your favorite little weirdo.

Additional adoption info

Our mission is to find the best possible homes for the animals in our care. Many of them have been through severe hardship, mistreatment or neglect, and that makes it even more important that we do our best for them. This means that we have to have guidelines because not every adopter is right for every animal. We try to do right by every person who comes our way looking for a new family pet. But sometimes we have to say “no” to a potential adopter. Our animals do not have a say in where they go; since we speak for those who have no voice, we must do it well. Our rejection of an adoption application is no reflection on the adopter. Everyone who wants to adopt an animal from a shelter or rescue group is special because they open their homes to those in need. But, while we try to meet the needs of everyone, our clients are the animals. They have no one else. We appreciate your understanding.

More about this rescue

The mission of Hounds in Pounds (HIP), is to end the daily killing of thousands of adoptable dogs in the United States. We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in New Jersey and Georgia and we rely 100% on donations.

HIP has a multi-faceted approach to achieving our mission, combining rescue, adoption, spay/neuter outreach and public education. Dogs rescued by Hounds in Pounds are transported to private veterinarians for proper medical treatment, where they are vetted, spayed/neutered, vaccinated, micro-chipped and tested for heartworm before being placed into new, loving homes. We work as a team, communicating from sunrise to sundown to manage the many moving pieces that make our work successful.

Each dog we pull to safety is a member of our family and is treated with the utmost love and respect. We are a lifeline for thousands of dogs that otherwise wouldn’t stand a chance. Many of the dogs we rescue are cases that no one else will take, as our motto at HIP is to “never say never”. To be clear, we are working for them. These dogs are our heroes, and we look to them for hope, inspiration and sometimes the strength to keep going. We also consider our followers, donors, adopters, rescue partners and the rescue community a direct extension of our team. Without each of these moving parts, Hounds in Pounds wouldn’t be able to do what we do.

As one can imagine, the costs associated with running an operation of this magnitude are extraordinary. We fulfill our mission by collaborating with local shelters, veterinarians, boarding facilities, transporters, and local businesses, and through the generosity of donors and supporters. It is thanks to our dedicated volunteers and the benevolent donations of our HIP family of supporters that any of this is possible.
