Toughie is a handsome boy, born approximately 2/2/20, who was found as a stray and brought to safety. Now neutered and fully vetted, he’s ready to leave his past behind and find a loving forever home.
Toughie did test positive for Feline Leukemia (FeLV), but don’t let that scare you away. FeLV **cannot** be spread to dogs or humans, and many FeLV-positive cats go on to live happy, normal lives with the right care and lots of love. We recommend Toughie go to a home with other FeLV-positive cats, or he would be perfectly happy being your one and only feline companion.
Personality-wise, Toughie truly lives up to being a lovebug. He is very affectionate, enjoys attention, and loves just about everyone he meets. He does well with children and would make a wonderful companion for a family looking for a sweet, social kitty to shower with love.
If you’re ready to open your heart to this special boy, apply today at eastshoreha.org to submit a pet application. Once your application is processed and approved, stop in during our open shelter cat viewing hours:
• Mondays from 12pm–5pm • Fridays from 12pm–6pm
Please be sure to apply before stopping by. Approved applications can take their new kitty friend home the very same day!
Toughie has already proven how resilient he is — now he just needs a forever family to show him he’s finally home.

Before You Adopt: Please consider these factors before filling out an application:
1. Animals are expensive to care for. They require food, shelter, toys, grooming, and veterinary health and dental care.
2. Animals require attention. You have to clean up after their messes, protect them from anything that might harm them, and make sure they get adequate play time and exercise. Some require training, which takes patience, love, and commitment.
Adopting a Friend: Adopter will fill out an application to start the adoption process. We don't adopt on a first come, first served basis, but instead adopt based on what we feel is in the animal's best interest. We DO NOT ship animals.
Adoption Requirements:
1. Have verifiable identification
2. Be at least 18 years of age
3. If renting, have landlords consent to bring a pet to your home
4. All adopted pets must be spayed or neutered
5. All pets must leave the shelter on a collar and leash, or in a pet carrier
6. Agree to all terms of the adoption contract; ESHA reserves the right to deny any application
