Theodore is a big personality in a furry little body! His previous family describes him as incredibly friendly and affectionate — the kind of cat who acts more like a dog. He’ll follow you around, chat with you about his day (he’s quite talkative!), and happily soak up all the pets you’re willing to give. This playful, social boy loves toys and especially enjoys playing with other cats. If there’s fun to be had, Theodore wants in! He’s also very smart — sometimes too smart. Theodore has been known to open cabinets, so you may want to have baby locks handy to keep this clever guy from helping himself to snacks. (And trust us, he loves food!) Theodore would likely do best in a home with older kids who can match his energy and respect his playful nature. With his affectionate personality, goofy charm, and dog-like devotion, Theodore is sure to be an entertaining and loving companion. If you’re looking for a smart, social, fun-loving cat who will keep you on your toes and fill your home with conversation, Theodore is ready to meet you!
Change is hard for this cat. This cat will be very nervous when you first bring them home. You will need to set up a room with a litter box, food, and water. It will take days for this cat to become comfortable and confident in the new home. This cat will be going home with a behavior plan that will need to be followed in order for everyone to transition successfully.

Come during our open adoption hours: Tuesday - Saturday,12:30 - 3:00pm. You’ll be able to meet available cats in the shelter.
(Cats in foster care are not available for in-person visits.)
#2- ADOPT REMOTELY OR PLACE A 24-HOUR HOLD**
If you’re ready to adopt without meeting the cat first, or you’d like to place a non-refundable $25 hold to reserve a cat for 24 hours, just call or email us: (413) 781-4000 x 1 springfield@dakinhumane.org. We are often helping other clients when you call, but we return voicemails and emails within 24 hours.
**Holds are not available on Saturdays and during adoption events.

All cat adoption fees include;
-spay/neuter
-rabies vaccine
-current distemper vaccines (may need additional boosters with your veterinarian)
-FeLV/FIV blood test
-microchip implanted & registered to the adopter
-treatment of fleas/ticks/ear mites
-veterinary exam and health certificate at Dakin
-free vet exam within 30 days after adoption with participating veterinarians
Most pets have also received other medical care while with us. Your veterinarian may recommend additional health care for your new pet.
