My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Turnip! This beautiful girl is looking for a loving home where she can live her best life. Turnip was previously an indoor/outdoor cat, and here in shelter she has been loving the comforts of indoor life, but she may appreciate a home with a catio or safe outdoor space. Turnip has previously lived with other cats, and she reportedly tolerated them but wasn't a huge fan of them. She has also lived with dogs and got along well with them. She was a bit shy when she first arrived here, and she may take a few days to settle in to a new home, but she is quickly coming out of her shell and showing us her loving personality.

Turnip has a spay appointment booked for March 18th, and we are looking to place her into a foster-to-adopt home so she can settle in while she waits for her spay.

If you are interested in adding Turnip to your family, please send in an application!

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

    Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

    Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

    Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

    1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

    2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

    3. Freedom from distress

    4. Freedom from discomfort

    5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
