This tiny golden treasure is Lyra! She is a sweet girl who is always looking to make you smile, and has no problem being a little silly to do so. She gets the occasional zoomies, especially when you bust out the wand toy, but will always settle down for a cuddle session. She is an extremely friendly cat once she warms up, and loves head and chin scratches -- she'll show you how thankful she is with some freshly made biscuits on your blanket!

We have worked hard to make our adoption process as easy as possible. We like to think of the process in four steps: application, phone conversation, meet and greet and adoption day. We will get back to applicants within a few days even if they were not chosen.

More about this rescue

Paws and Claws Rescue is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in the Chicagoland area dedicated to preventing, and alleviating the suffering caused by abuse, neglect, and overpopulation. We help dogs and cats mentally and physically heal, and give them a chance to find love, a full life, and a forever home.

Our focus is on rescuing orphaned neonatal kittens, nursing kittens with their feral mothers, under-socialized cats, and dogs who have been at Chicago Animal Care and Control for too long. We see ourselves as the crossing guards for these vulnerable animals, helping them get from their past, whether that be from a traumatic home, a kennel, or a euthanasia list, to a safe and kind human who will love them.
