Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Tropic is a goofy, affectionate, and intelligent dog who has thrived in her foster homes. A pro at making long-lasting friends, from shelter volunteers to her foster mom’s neighbors, Tropic plays hard and loves even harder. Her favorite activities include playing with her tennis balls (often two at a time!), splashing around in water, or exploring on a hike - ideally followed by cuddles on the couch.
Tropic’s talents don’t end with her physical feats though: she’s one smart cookie who is developing skills like recall, loose-leash walking and heeling on walks, and she learned the Place cue in just 10 minutes! Tropic would love to continue mastering advanced skills in her forever home. She has also shown herself to be house-trained and non-destructive when left alone, and will even put herself to bed in her crate when she’s ready to rest.
After 600 days with CAC, Tropic is ready to brighten up the home of her future family as a loyal companion. She will thrive in an adult-only home where she is the only pet, and her people will gain with a forever friend who loves adventure, couch snuggles, and simply enjoying the lasting peace of knowing she’s truly home.
Adoption Fee Waived: This animal’s adoption fee is waived because someone who loves them already paid for their adoption fee!
All adoptable pets are spayed/neutered (or scheduled), vaccinated, microchipped, and ready to go home today! No pre-application or appointment needed—just bring a valid ID and walk in. Our adoption fees are among the lowest in Cincinnati!
To meet our animals, visit our Northside shelters any day from 1–6pm. If listed as foster, email foster@cincycare.org to schedule a meet and greet. Adopting an adult dog with resident dogs or kids at home? Bring them along to ensure it’s a perfect match.
About Us: Cincinnati Animal CARE proudly serves Hamilton County’s humane society needs, dog warden, and animal control services. We help keep people and pets together and connect strays with future families.

Who we are:
Cincinnati Animal CARE, also known as Cincy CARE, is Hamilton County’s only open, stray-intake municipal animal shelter responsible for the county’s dog warden and Animal Control services. As the sole taxpayer-funded provider of these services, we are committed to ensuring all animals in our community are valued, protected, and have a safe place to call home.
We are a dynamic and progressive organization aiming to deliver exceptional animal services to our community. We enforce animal laws and prioritize public safety while striving to be a community resource providing education and support to the people and animals of Hamilton County.
Our History
Cincy CARE assumed responsibility for Hamilton County animal services in August 2020, committed to the humane no-kill philosophy. The nationally recognized definition of no-kill is saving the lives of 90% or more of the animals that enter an animal shelter's doors. We believe that lifesaving is a community ethic and implement a collaborative, holistic approach to animal sheltering and Dog Warden services.
Cincy CARE provides temporary care to thousands of animals annually through dedication, hard work, and compassionate care. Our network is composed of an incredible group of animal welfare professionals and passionate volunteers, foster caregivers, and donors, without whom our work would not be possible.
