My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Lucy was transferred in from another animal welfare organization on March 4, 2026.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Meet Lucy, a delicate wallflower with a heart of gold just waiting for the right person to help her bloom. While she may start off a bit shy with new faces or in unfamiliar surroundings, her cautious nature is simply a prelude to the deep bond she is eager to form. To help her find her footing, Lucy will need a cozy, quiet sanctuary where she can slowly acclimate and feel secure at her own pace. If you give her the grace to blossom on her own timeline, you will be rewarded with the most soulful soft purrs and gentle, leaning cuddles that make every moment of patience worth it. For the adopter who understands that the best things in life take a little time, Lucy is ready to turn your quiet house into a home filled with tender affection. Please bring a secure cat carrier for a safe ride home!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
