My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Jethro is a handsome gray tabby and white gentleman with a big personality and an even bigger heart. At around three years old, he is the perfect blend of playful energy and relaxed companionship.

This confident, outgoing boy loves being around his people. Jethro is a true affection expert, greeting his humans with enthusiastic head butts, kneading biscuits, and a steady purr that lets you know just how happy he is. While he prefers not to be carried for long, he is always happy to walk across your lap, stop by for scratches, and keep you company throughout the day.

Playtime is one of Jethro’s favorite activities. His absolute favorite toy is a wand toy, and he will even bring it to you when he is ready for a game. Toss it across the room and he will happily chase it down and bring it back for another round, making him a rare cat who enjoys a good game of fetch. His silly, athletic nature keeps life entertaining, and he especially loves toys with strings and a good scratching post.

Jethro previously lived with another cat and was submissive and respectful in that relationship. He keeps a tidy litter box and takes good care of his own grooming, making him an easy housemate.

Sadly, Jethro was returned to rescue when his previous owner became ill. He has handled the transition with resilience and charm, and he is ready to find a new home where he can once again share his affection, playful spirit, and sweet companionship.

If you are looking for a confident, loving cat who will greet you with purrs, head bumps, and the occasional game of fetch, Jethro may be the perfect addition to your family.

At the time you are seeing this post, this cat is still available for adoption. But please know that we may be working on multiple applications already, and any one of them could be approved at any time. Please READ THIS ENTIRE DESCRIPTION and complete an adoption application, if you are interested in any of our animals. Application at https://greendogsunleashed.org/forms/cat-adoption-application/ (make sure you choose the cat application and not the dog application). If you send an inquiry to ask if the cat is still available, or just tell us you are interested, your inquiry will not be answered. FILL OUT AN APPLICATION. We can do NOTHING without that.

*/*/* PLEASE NOTE: The first communication you will receive after completing an application will be an email response, which will have instructions on how to proceed. Please check your inbox AND spam folders for the next 48 hours, for this email. We will not begin processing an application without the information requested in that email. */*/*

*/*/* Young kittens will receive age-appropriate vaccines, and will be spayed/neutered prior to adoption. Adopters may be required to provide additional boosters and a rabies vaccine. Future annual vaccines, testing and healthcare are REQUIRED, and will be the financial responsibility of the adopter.

Please note you must submit an application and be approved before a meet and greet will be scheduled. You can fill out an application here: https://greendogsunleashed.org/forms/cat-adoption-application/

While we do allow out of state adoptions, the adopter must be able to travel to Charlottesville, Virginia and meet in person at an agreed upon time to take their cat home.

GDU does ask a minimum adoption donation of $120.00 for cats. This is a minimum donation and does not cover all expenses as we are funded solely by the angels and volunteers willing to donate time and finances. This minimum donation includes age appropriate vaccines and flea and tick treatment, as well as neutering or spaying if the animal is medically sound to undergo surgery. This minimum donation does not even begin to cover the actual expenses each animal has while in rescue, but does go directly towards vet care for our rescue animals. To fill out an application for adoption, please go to https://greendogsunleashed.org/forms/cat-adoption-application.
