Big Smudge
Big Smudge is a handsome, strong-willed boy with a big personality and an even bigger heart. Before coming into rescue, he lived life on the outside and survived by doing what he had to do — including fighting off other cats to protect himself. Because of that past, he absolutely does not like other cats, dogs, or children. He also becomes very upset hearing other cats in distress. What Big Smudge truly wants is simple: a quiet home where he can be the one and only king of his castle.
Big Smudge is FIV+, but that does not define him. FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus) is only transmitted through deep bite wounds — typically from serious fighting — which means it cannot be spread through casual contact like sharing food bowls, litter boxes, grooming, or cuddling. Many FIV+ cats live long, happy, completely normal lives with routine vet care and a safe indoor home. Big Smudge just needs someone willing to see past the label and see the amazing boy he is.
And amazing he is.
He LOVES to meow at you and hold full conversations. If you’re opening a can of wet food, just know — it’s obviously for him, and he will happily remind you of that. Wet food is his absolute favorite thing in the world. When he’s not chatting or eating, you’ll often find him gazing out the window, peacefully watching the outside world from the safety of indoors.
Big Smudge is incredibly loving, but affection is on his terms. He enjoys being petted and will soak up your attention — until he’s had enough, and he’ll politely let you know. He’s a boy who appreciates respect, routine, and a calm environment.
