My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Some animals come through our doors and you just know… this one is special. Phoenix is one of those cats.

Phoenix is about 2 years old and arrived at HSKL as a stray in heartbreaking condition. She had a severe upper respiratory infection that had completely destroyed her eyes. Despite everything she had been through, she greeted everyone with purrs, head bumps, and a playful spirit that instantly stole the hearts of our team.

There was never a question. We weren’t giving up on her.

Phoenix was sent to the vet where she had her first eye removed, and she recovered beautifully. The cone might have been her worst nightmare, but her personality never dimmed. During recovery she quickly learned how to navigate her space, hop up on the couch, and happily play with toys like nothing could slow her down.

Last week Phoenix returned to the vet for her second surgery to remove the remaining eye. Once again she proved just how strong she is. With the pain finally gone, Phoenix can now live the comfortable life she deserves.

And here’s the incredible thing about blind cats: they adapt amazingly well. Phoenix uses her whiskers, hearing, and memory to move around confidently. Once she learns her surroundings, she navigates them like a pro. She still plays, cuddles, and explores just like any other cat.

Phoenix would thrive in a home where she has companionship. Another gentle pet could be a wonderful friend for her, and she absolutely loves being around people. She’s affectionate, playful, and full of life.

Phoenix is currently in foster care, so if you would like to meet her, please contact us to schedule an appointment.

If you can’t adopt, please consider donating. Emergency surgeries like Phoenix’s happen because of the support we receive from our community. Your donations allow us to say yes to animals who need life-saving care, just like Phoenix did.

But if you’re ready to welcome an incredibly special cat into your life…
Please adopt our perfect girl, Phoenix.
