My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Pecas

Breed: Terrier / Coonhound Mix
Sex: Female
DOB: 7/9/2025
Weight: 33 Pounds (15 kg)
Health: Healthy and doing well

Pecas is a beautiful young Terrier/Coonhound mix with soulful eyes and a joyful, affectionate spirit. At just eight months old, she’s at that wonderful age where her playful puppy energy is balanced by a loving, loyal personality that is already beginning to shine. Friendly with both dogs and cats, Pecas is the kind of dog who brings happiness and warmth wherever she goes.

Personality

Pecas is affectionate, playful, and wonderfully social. She enjoys being around people and thrives on companionship. She loves exploring, playing, and discovering new things, but she also enjoys calm moments where she can relax close to her humans. Pecas gets along well with both dogs and cats, which makes her a great fit for many households. Her loving nature and playful spirit make her a joyful companion who truly enjoys being part of a family.

Breed Info

Terrier / Coonhound mixes often combine intelligence, curiosity, and loyalty. These dogs tend to be bright, energetic, and eager to engage with their environment. Coonhound traits often bring a gentle and affectionate nature, while terriers contribute playfulness and alertness. With proper exercise, mental stimulation, and daily interaction, this mix becomes a devoted companion that enjoys both adventure and relaxation with their people.

Owner Responsibilities

As a young dog, Pecas will benefit from continued training, structure, and guidance. Daily walks, playtime, and opportunities for mental stimulation will help her grow into a confident, balanced adult dog. Positive reinforcement training will strengthen the bond between Pecas and her adopter while helping her learn routines and expectations. Dogs like Pecas thrive when they feel included in everyday life and have opportunities to stay active and engaged.

⚠️ Things to Consider

Before adopting Pecas, it’s important to think about long-term stability. Are pets allowed where you live now and in the future? If you move, will Pecas move with you? Do you have time each day for exercise, companionship, and engagement? Are you financially prepared for routine veterinary care, food, and unexpected medical needs? Adoption means committing to your dog through every stage of life.

Vet Care

Even though Pecas is healthy, adopters should establish care with their own veterinarian as soon as possible after adoption. This ensures preventative care, continued health monitoring, and a trusted medical partner for her lifetime.

Understanding the 3-3-3 Rule

Like most rescue dogs, Pecas will need time to adjust to her new home.
The first 3 days she may feel overwhelmed as she decompresses.
The first 3 weeks she will begin learning your routine and feeling safe.
By 3 months, her confidence will grow and her full loving personality will shine.

Patience and consistency during this time will help Pecas thrive.

Why Pecas?

Pecas is a sweet, joyful young dog with so much love to give. She is ready for adventures, companionship, and the comfort of a family who will include her in their lives. With her friendly nature, playful spirit, and loving heart, Pecas has everything it takes to become a devoted lifelong companion.
