My name is Alaska, and like the Great North I was named for, I can bear any element.
I wasn’t always a house cat. The “lore” the humans tell is that I arrived like a snowy mist to SNIPSA, seeking a place where my four tiny shadows—my kittens—could be safe. I spent weeks in foster care being the protector, the hunter, and the warm pillow for four rowdy babies. I taught them how to pounce, how to wash behind their ears, and how to be brave. Now that they’ve grown up and found their own paths, it’s time for me to trek onward with a permanent family.
My Personality:
I’m a girl of refined tastes, but I have a busy agenda. Here is the breakdown of what life with me looks like:
The Explorer: My nose leads the way. If there is a cabinet left ajar or a shopping bag on the floor, I will be the first to investigate. I’m naturally curious!
The Nanny: Because I raised four kittens of my own, I have a “mother’s patience.” Small humans (the loud ones you call children) don’t bother me. I’m remarkably tolerant and will share my sweetness with everyone.
The Negotiator: I can be bribed, and I’m not ashamed to admit it. If you open a Churu treat, I will be your best friend for life. I believe those little tubes of purée are the greatest invention in human history.
I’m looking for a cozy place where I don’t have to worry about my next meal. I want a window with a view so I can keep an eye on the birds, a comfy lap for evening naps, and a family that appreciates a cat with a bit of a legendary past.
I’ve spent my life taking care of everyone else. I’m ready for someone to take care of me now. I promise to pay you back in soft head-bonks and a very steady purr. Apply to meet me today.

SNIPSA is an organization formed by a group of veterinarians and caring individuals dedicated to helping homeless and unwanted animals in San Antonio and the surrounding area. SNIPSA does not have a standing shelter and depends on a core of volunteers to foster and rehabilitate animals in their homes. This provides us with the opportunity to learn first hand about the animal’s needs and behavior in order to facilitate an appropriate adoption. SNIPSA was incorporated in 2005 and has re-homed more than 3000 animals.
