My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Maximillion was brought in by a community member on February 4, 2026.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Meet Maximillium! Maximillium came to us as a stray and was initially shy and cautious while he adjusted to his new surroundings. With some time and patience, his playful personality has started to shine! This fun guy loves toys-especially balls-and will happily bounce around chasing them. He enjoys exploring on walks, sniffing all the interesting smells and showing off his wiggly, playful energy once he's feeling comfortable. Maximillium needs time to warm up to new people and does best when he's given space to approach on his own terms. A calm home with patient adopters who will let him settle in at his own pace will help him feel confident and comfortable. Maximillium is required to be in a home with children 12 years and older and all members of the household must be present for the meet-and-greet so he can say hello to everyone. If you already have a dog at home, Maximillium will need to meet them here at our campus to make sure they'll be pawsome roommates. If you're looking for a playful pup and ready to give a shy guy the time he needs to blossom, Maximillium might be your guy!

Shy/Fearful Dog: Maximillion requires a virtual behavior consult, please watch THIS video to learn more about them.

At SDHS:
Maximillion has been vaccinated, microchipped and neutered. He is now ready for his new home!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
