This helps Rocky Mountain Puppy Rescue with pet care costs.
Kane is a handsome shepherd pup with soulful eyes and the kind of loyal little heart that is just waiting to belong to someone. Now that he has settled into foster life, his personality has really come into focus and he is such a special boy.
He is a bouncy, happy puppy who wags his tail with his whole body. When he is excited to see you, his whole face lights up and that tail starts going. He actively seeks out affection and has a way of making you feel chosen. If you sit down, he is coming over. If you call him, he lights up. He truly wants to be with his people.
Kane greets new adults and children with confidence and a friendly, welcoming energy. He has that classic shepherd awareness and notices what is going on around him, but he is not reactive or overly barky. He may give a curious little woof at something new, then he is ready to move on and check back in with you.
One of the most striking things about Kane is his focus. He has that shepherd look where he locks eyes with you, ears up, ready for direction. He naturally checks in and seems to genuinely enjoy learning. He already has “sit” down, is doing well with “come,” and understands “let’s go” during leash time in the yard. In a controlled setting he walks with a loose leash at my side and often sits automatically when I stop. We are working on “down,” and with his food motivation and desire to please, he is catching on quickly. I can easily see him being the kind of dog who looks back at you on a walk just to make sure you are still there.
He loves to play and would have a blast with another dog, but he would also be very happy soaking up all the attention as your one and only. He is energetic like any healthy puppy and will likely grow into a medium to medium high energy dog, but he settles nicely after play and enjoys snuggle time just as much.
House training is going very well. He has had zero overnight accidents, comfortably holds it about five to six hours at night, and consistently goes outside to potty. No poop accidents inside. He is still a baby and learning, but he is well on his way.
At his core, Kane is affectionate, aware, eager, and deeply people focused. He bonds quickly and wants to be your dog. With continued positive guidance and an active home that enjoys engagement and play, he is going to grow into a smart, loyal, and truly devoted companion.
