My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Kiki is a sweet, affectionate boy with a big heart and an even bigger love for his people. His favorite routine is simple: a fun play session with his humans followed by a cozy cuddle on the couch. Whether you're tossing a toy for him or settling in for a relaxing evening, Kiki is happiest when he's spending time with the people he loves.

Because he thrives on companionship, Kiki would do wonderfully in a home where someone is around a lot-such as someone who works from home. He would likely be happiest in a calm household with a couple people who want to shower him with the attention, playtime, and snuggles he enjoys so much. ♥

Kiki does have a condition called feline calicivirus. This is a common virus in cats that mainly affects the upper respiratory system, similar to how a cold might affect people. Cats with calicivirus can sometimes have mild symptoms like sneezing, watery eyes, or occasional flare-ups, but many cats live happy, comfortable lives with it. Because the virus can spread between cats, Kiki should either be the only cat in the home or live with other cats who also have calicivirus. Kiki is also looking for a dog-free, indoor-only home where he can feel safe, loved, and relaxed.

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
