My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Zaya - a unique, melodic name for a truly beautiful kitten.  This little lady has always stood out.  She carries herself with quiet radiance and a touch of independence.  Zaya is perfectly content entertaining herself, whether she’s batting around a toy mouse, chasing a fluffy ball, or swatting the plastic balls on her three-tier tower.  But don’t be fooled - she also loves a good game of chase with her sister, Zuri!  When playtime winds down, you’ll often find Zaya tucked cozily inside her donut tunnel or nestled in the back cubby of the cat tower.  She appreciates her quiet time.  That said, Zaya has a soft side as well.  She enjoys being gently scooped up and held on a shoulder, as she begins to purr the moment she receives sweet head scratches.  You can feel her little body relax as she settles in.  Zaya and her siblings were rescued in December 2025, when they were 8-9 weeks old, during that bitter arctic blast!  They had been confined to a wire crate in an unheated garage and were suffering from what initially appeared to be a typical upper respiratory infection.   It was not typical.  After weeks of careful treatment and dedication, they finally turned the corner.  It was a challenging start for these little lives, but these resilient babies grew stronger every single day.  After all that, this entire litter remained lovable and friendly, though they can be a bit hesitant and cautious at first.  Once they understand they are safe and surrounded by love, their true playful, affectionate personalities shine.  Zaya is a sweet, gentle soul who may need a little time to build trust in her new home, just like most kittens adjusting to new surroundings.  Just show this beauty, with the star-like stripe on her face, a little patience and love, and she will return it tenfold.  Zaya is one of “the lucky ones”, as we fosters call them.  She is ready to “open her paws” and embrace her new life, her new family, and all the adventures ahead in her forever home.  Do you have a little love to shower on this little star?  Please contact Vivienne with CCR now at vivienneajames@gmail.com or 615-943-7311.  APPROVED APPLICATION AND ADOPTION FEE REQURIED.

More about this rescue

We are a group of dedicated rescue people who want to save as many dogs and cats from the local shelters before they are euthanized. On the average....there are only 1 out of 10 animals that get adopted from a shelter. We are dedicated to helping increase pet adoptions by offering a shelter animal a foster home to go to while awaiting an adoptive family to find them. Won't you please adopt a shelter animal? Or won't you please help us foster a shelter animal while we are looking for their perfect home? What a gift you can give a dog or cat by giving them a place to feel safe and secure....a forever home or a foster home. Won't you help us at Critter Companion Rescue give them a chance to have a life?
