My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Max!  This handsome little guy was rescued from the streets of North Nashville in mid-November by a kind-hearted young man who regularly cares for local cat colonies.  When he spotted this little kitten, he set a humane trap and safely brought him in out of harm’s way.  At the time, Max was estimated to be only about six weeks old.  Max has never been the type of rescue who claws, hisses, or spits - he has simply been scared.  He has taken his time learning to trust, and it’s hard to know what his early experiences with humans may have been.  What he needed most was patience, kindness, and understanding.  Just two days before rescuing Max, the same rescuer had trapped another kitten believed to be his sister or cousin, Mia.  The two have stayed together ever since and enjoy playing and keeping each other company.  Their foster mom gradually introduced them to a larger kitty room where they now share space with three older cats.  The room is filled with fun wall shelves, cozy beds, scratching posts, and cat towers that create the perfect playground and obstacle course.  The many cubbies make excellent hiding spots for games of hide-and-seek.  It has been wonderful watching both Max and Mia blossom into more confident, trusting kittens.  These former street babies needed a little time to figure out how to play, but now they’re making up for it!  Crinkle balls and fuzzy toy balls are definite favorites - you’ll often see them batting toys across the room.  Max is also very fond of wand toys and loves trying to catch those “flying fish.”  Are Max and Mia inseparable?  Not necessarily.  They often enjoy their own space, and it’s common to find them relaxing in different parts of the kitty room.  Sometimes Max can be found stretched out on a wall bed, quietly observing the world.  I jokingly call him “Mad Max” because he occasionally has such a serious expression!  He’s definitely an observer by nature.  While it would be lovely if Max and Mia could stay together, Max could also thrive in a home where he can truly become someone’s special little guy.  Max is a beautiful gray tabby with classic white stripes, and green eyes.  He is truly one of the lucky ones - rescued from the streets and given the chance to grow up in a safe, loving foster home.  He tested negative on all necessary screenings and has been a healthy boy during his time in foster care.  It’s easy to fall in love with Max’s photos, but what he truly needs is a forever home that will give him time to adjust, build trust, and feel safe with his new family.  He is still a little timid and cautious, but with patience and love, that shyness will continue to fade.  Beneath it all is a gentle, sweet soul just waiting to shine.  Are you ready to give Max the patience and love he deserves?  Contact CCR today to learn more about this handsome boy.  ccrnewengland@gmail.com

More about this rescue

We are a group of dedicated rescue people who want to save as many dogs and cats from the local shelters before they are euthanized. On the average....there are only 1 out of 10 animals that get adopted from a shelter. We are dedicated to helping increase pet adoptions by offering a shelter animal a foster home to go to while awaiting an adoptive family to find them. Won't you please adopt a shelter animal? Or won't you please help us foster a shelter animal while we are looking for their perfect home? What a gift you can give a dog or cat by giving them a place to feel safe and secure....a forever home or a foster home. Won't you help us at Critter Companion Rescue give them a chance to have a life?
