My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Xena was brought in from another shelter on March 4, 2026.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Meet Xena, a sweet and sensitive girl looking for someone to help her shine! She thrives in calm, quiet homes and would be happiest without the hustle and bustle of young children or rowdy dogs. If there are children in the home, they should be 8 or older and know to respect her space. Xena is also looking for a home where she can have a feline friend. Having a buddy-whether one of the friends she came in with or a friendly resident cat-helps her feel confident and ready to explore her new home. To help her settle in, she'll appreciate her very own "safe zone" with cozy hiding spots and high perches where she can watch the world go by. A top-loading cat carrier is recommended for a smooth and secure journey home. With a little patience, gentle encouragement, and a calm environment, Xena is ready to begin her next chapter as a cherished member of your family!

Shy/Fearful Cat: Xena requires a virtual behavior consult, please watch THIS video to learn more about her.

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
