Here's what the humans have to say about me:
April is the one female out of 6. Mom was a lucky girl to be rescued out of an outside kennel with other dogs. She was heavy in labor when Animal Control picked her up and took her to a local vet clinic. April was born Jan 9, 2026. She has had two puppy vaccines and has been dewormed twice. She is eating puppy kibbles with no problems. She loves to play and watch her foster mom. She loves to be held by her foster mom. She may grow up to be a large breed, 65 pound adult. Right now at 12 pounds she is pretty strong. We guess her breed is Terrier/Boxer mix. She is all ready to go to her fur-ever home. She is a puppy and is not house trained. She is smart and will be easy to train. Her adoption fee of $300 includes her spay surgery, microchip and registration, vaccines age related, and deworming.
Since April is not yet spayed, she is not available for adoption outside of the counties contiguous to Bedford County. There is a separate $50 deposit that is refundable after proof of spay is presented.
For more information, please visit our website at www.bhsva.org (opens in new tab) to fill out an adoption application.

Additional adoption info
Have you discovered a pet you wish to adopt? Great!
Now, the first step is to complete an adoption application on our website at www.bhsva.org. This is not a commitment to adopt. It is simply the first step in the process.
We will review your application for preliminary approval before asking the foster parent to contact you to set up a time to meet the pet. You may also have concerns about how the animal will fit your home environment. When the foster parent contacts you, you will be able to discuss your concerns with someone who has first-hand experience with the pet.
After you meet the animal, you and the foster parent can decide if this is definitely the forever pet for you.
