My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Arthur Murray--the three-legged snuggle bug with a big heart!

If you’re looking for a companion who is part world-class conversationalist and part professional cuddler, look no further. Arthur Murray is ready to dance his way right into your home (and onto your lap).

Arthur came to us as a tough street survivor with an old injury that required him to become a tripod. But don't let the missing front leg fool you—Arthur hasn't gotten the memo that he’s "limited." He is just as speedy as any four-legged feline and navigates the house with impressive grace and zoomies.

Arthur is a total head-turner with his stunning Lynx Point Siamese markings and piercing blue eyes. You will never feel lonely with Arthur around. He has an opinion on everything and loves to share it through a delightful series of trills and soft meows.

To help him stay relaxed and comfortable after his amputation, Arthur takes a daily dose of Gabapentin. The best part? He’s a dream to medicate—just sprinkle it on his food, and he gobbles it right up!

Arthur is looking for a peaceful kingdom where he can feel secure. Because of his rough start on the streets, other cats can make him a little nervous. He would be thrilled to be your one-and-only, though he can coexist with a calm, laid-back adult cat who respects his space (he currently lives with 2 chill foster brothers).

Arthur's good with children provided they understand he prefers a "no-chase" policy. He is also scared of dogs, so he'd prefer a home without any canine companions.

Ready to add some blue-eyed charm and a lot of trills to your life? Arthur Murray is waiting to meet his forever dance partner!

  • You must be a US citizen or green card holder.

Adoption Process

  • Fill out an adoption interest application HERE.

  • Our goal is finding lifelong, loving homes for our animals, so we try to find the best match between animal and adopter. We can help advise you on which animals to meet based on your situation.

  • You can meet some of our animals at our weekend adoption events, or we can arrange for a meeting in the foster home. If it’s a good match, the foster parent will come to visit your home in person. This is to make sure your home is safe and secure for a new companion animal.

  • Note: IAR makes every effort to please our adopters, but our first concern must be for the animal’s welfare. We reserve the right to deny any application.

More about this rescue

IAR started with one woman's big dreams, a bigger heart, and a very distinctive purple pickup truck that helped her rescue countless of unwanted, abused, and homeless Triangle pets. Originally founded in 1994, IAR earned an official 501(c)(3) status in 1995. We are governed by a Board of Directors, managed by elected officers, and introduced IAR’s first paid position, General Manager, in June 2021. This role will assist with elevating our collective compassion to new heights and strengthening IAR’s impact as a whole.

Our mission is to rescue and provide safe and responsible care for homeless, abandoned, and abused animals. We shall strive to help all animals in need through our service programs. We will serve our communities through promotion of spay/neuter for all companion animals, and the education of children and adults in humane care, respect and responsibility for animals on this earth.
