Their adoption process

To be considered as and adopter you must be 21 years of age or older, have identification showing your present address, have the knowledge and consent of your landlord if you are renting or leasing and be willing to spend the time and money necessary to provide training, medical treatment and proper care for a pet. To be considered to adopt a pitbull, pitbull mix, american bulldog or any type of bully breed, you must be 21 years of age or older, own your own home and have a 6 foot fence.
Our adoption fee for puppies up to 1 year old is $400 and dogs over 1 year are $350. We only accept payment for adoption fees via our website or cash. An adoption contract is required for all adoptions. All rescue pets will be spayed/neutered prior to adoption, have age appropriate vaccinations and be microchipped. We require a home visit prior to any adoption. We do not adopt any bully breeds out of the State of Colorado. Out of state adoptions for a rescue pet other than a bully breed will only be considered if a home visit and transportation can be arranged.

MISSION STATEMENT

Our Mission is to help abandoned, lost and suffering animals through rescue, shelter and public education. We will raise and hold funds for those not able to speak for themselves. Working alone or with other rescue organizations, shelters and animal welfare groups, we will be their advocates for rehoming, veterinary services and humane treatment, regardless of species, breed or age.

WE HAVE NO PAID STAFF AND MOST OF OUR VOLUNTEERS HAVE REGULAR JOBS AND A FAMILY. ALL DONATIONS AND ADOPTION FEES GO DIRECTLY TO THE ANIMALS TAKEN IN BY THE RESCUE. HFA RESCUES MANY OLDER, SICK, AND SPECIAL NEEDS ANIMALS ALONG WITH THE PIT BULLS. WE SPEND A LOT OF TIME CARING FOR THEM AS WELL AS WORKING ON ADOPTING THEM OUT TO WONDERFUL HOMES. PLEASE BE PATIENT WHEN LEAVING A MESSAGE OR FILLING OUT AN APPLICATION.
