Requirements to Adopt: -Identification Card -Secondary Proof of Address -Verbal or Written Approval from Landlord or HOA -Proof of Current Rabies Vaccine for Currently Owned Pets -If you are adopting a dog over 6 months old, please bring your resident dogs in for a meet and greet. Adoption Fees: -Kittens (< 6 months): $95 -Adult Cats (6 months – 6 years): $75 -Senior Cats (6 years & up): $45 -Puppies (< 6 months): $225 -Adult Dogs Under 25 lbs. Who We Are We are a no-kill shelter funded strictly on donations and grants.Our dogs have indoor and outdoor kennels along with play area to be off leash to play with their playmates and volunteers. MISSION STATEMENT The mission of the Humane Society of Manatee County is to create a "No-Kill Community" where animals receive the compassion and respect they deserve Our ongoing mission is to help all the animals in Manatee County by: Reducing the pet over-population problem by providing several different spay/neuter programs.. Sheltering homeless animals until a "forever home" is found. There is no time limit on the animals that are waiting to be adopted at our shelter. They stay either at the shelter or in a foster home. Volunteers and foster homes are always desperately needed. Empowering the community, through education, (children, as well as adults) to be responsible animal advocates. PROGRAMS AND SERVICES Low Cost Spay/Neuter is available through our clinic. Some Manatee County residents may qualify for free surgeries for anyone who receives food stamps and Medicaid, but low cost is available to anyone, no residency or income qualifications required. Proof of current rabies vaccination is required. Other services available at time of surgery. Call 941-747-8808 Option 1 for an appointment. Surgery is done Monday thru Friday by appointment only. ADOPTION PROGRAM – We encourage the public to visit our adoption center to work with our staff to find the perfect match to become a new addition to your home.. TNR PROGRAM - Trap/Neuter/Release Program. Cats (feral) at large are spayed or neutered; vaccinated for rabies and distemper, ear-notched for identification purposes at no cost. This is available to people who agree to become the owner, take responsibility for future care, health and maintenance of the cat. TNR is held 2 times a month, for more information go on HSMC Clinic website. FOOD PROGRAM - Dog and cat food is available at no cost for owned pet owners, experiencing temporary financial problems. Requirements their dog or cat needs to be S/N and rabies up to date.
