More about this shelter

*IMPORTANT MESSAGE ABOUT OUR SHELTER*

We are moving into a new facility. During this transition, neither shelter will be open for regular operations. Our grand opening will be held on May 21st at 1:30pm.
The public is welcome to attend!

Marion County Animal Services is our community's largest animal shelter, providing comprehensive animal welfare and public safety services throughout our county.

We offer pet adoptions, a to look for lost pets, fostering, rescue partnerships, a volunteer program, and hands-on training for veterinary students.

Our services also include low-cost spay and neuter, an SNR program for community and feral cats, an inmate dog training initiative, and we also provide domestic animal control and education.

With a high volume of animals in our care, community support is essential to our mission of increasing lifesaving outcomes and expanding placement opportunities. We care for a wide variety of breeds, ages, and personalities, and encourage visitors to keep an open mind. The right match may not always be what you expect, but it might just be exactly what you need.

We are committed to serving both people and animals by connecting pets in need with caring, responsible homes.
