Their adoption process

STEP 1: Click the link in the animal’s biography to receive an Adoption Application. STEP 2: After you fill out the adoption form, Rebas will receive notice automatically. STEP 3: You will receive an email and phone call within 24 hours to discuss your application and/or set up a meeting time with the pet if still available. STEP 4: If you have other pets in your home, they must be spayed and neutered and up to date on vaccinations and preventatives to be eligible to adopt. STEP 5: Dog-dog interactions will be required for most adoption approvals. Your adoption specialist will manage this on a case-by-case basis. Reba’s Animal Rescue facilitates adoptions by carefully matching animals with suitable homes based on their needs and requirements. We take the time to understand the interests, experience, and expectations of potential adopters to ensure the best possible match for both the animal and the adopter. Our aim is to treat each adoption as a lifelong commitment, and we do not operate on a first-come-first-served basis.

More about this shelter

Reba’s Animal Rescue is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit animal welfare organization based in Chesapeake, Virginia, dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming dogs and cats in need. Founded in 2011 in honor of Melony Daniels and inspired by her beloved dog Reba, the organization was created from a deep passion for giving abandoned, neglected, and vulnerable animals a second chance at life. Through its adoption center, foster network, and community partnerships, Reba’s Rescue provides medical care, behavioral support, and a safe environment for animals while preparing them for loving, permanent homes. The organization also focuses on community outreach, humane education, and advocacy to strengthen the human–animal bond and reduce the number of animals in need
