Their adoption process
If you are interested in adopting from our rescue please visit https://compactcaninerescue.org/dog-adoption/ to put in your application. Please call your vet to allow them to discuss your vet history with our team. You will be notified by email of the next step in the process. Be sure to check your junk/spam folders regularly.
Adoption steps
- Submit Application
- After submission we check with the vet you referenced to obtain your pets medical history and the adopters compliance with recommendations
- Interview
- Once you pass the vet. reference, we schedule an interview to find out more about you, the applicant, and the type of dog you want to adopt
- Home Check
- If the phone interview is passed we then visit your home to see how one of our dogs reacts to the family, other pets and the environment.
- Approve Application
- We have a committee to whom the applications are presented. They read over the entire packet and either approve or deny the app
- Meet the Pet
- Once an adopter is approved they can call the foster parents and find out more about our dogs. If they match we set up a Meeting
- Sign Adoption Contract
- If one of our dogs is a good fit, then at the meet an adoption can take place during the meet and greet
- Pay Fee
- when contracts are signed, the fee is collected

After approval through our application process meetings are set up through the foster family and interested adopter. Watch our website for any in-person events to meet our dogs.
More about this rescue
The founding members of our rescue are dog lovers. Especially, small dogs! When we saw the need to help so many small dogs of various breeds and mixes, we collaborated to form a non-breed-specific rescue to help as many small dogs as possible. Our mission is to help dogs who weigh up to 20 pounds.
Adoption is not first come first served. We match our dogs to potential owners to ensure the best outcomes for all involved! Our philosophy is: Rescue - Rehabilitate - Rejoice!
