Their adoption process

Minneapolis Miniature Schnauzer Rescue is a dedicated nonprofit organization committed to the rescue, rehabilitation, and rehoming of Miniature Schnauzers throughout Minnesota. Our mission is to ensure that every dog we serve finds a safe, loving, and permanent home where they can thrive.
We believe that thoughtful placement is key to lifelong success. Our adoption process is designed to create the best possible match between each dog and their prospective family. To that end, we require all potential adopters to complete a comprehensive screening process, which includes a detailed application, home visit, and meet-and-greet with the dog.
To be considered for adoption, families must meet the following criteria:
• Reside in the Minneapolis area
• Have a secure, dog-appropriate fence
• Ensure the dog will not be left home alone for extended periods
These standards reflect our deep commitment to the well-being of every Miniature Schnauzer in our care. We appreciate your understanding and partnership in creating successful, lasting placements.

Adoption steps

  1. Submit Application
We have an application process for all potential owners to fill out before advancing to the next step.
  2. Interview
A phone interview is done for questions you might have or the interviewer.
  3. Home Check
A home visit will be scheduled to see where they might live. A dog will come with, especially if there is another one residing there
  4. Meet the Pet
A meet and Greet at your home will be done and if the dog feels comfortable, they are home and fee will be collected at this point
  5. Sign Adoption Contract
    A contract will be signed

Go meet their pets

Before finalizing any adoption, Minneapolis Miniature Schnauzer Rescue arranges a meet-and-greet between the dog and the prospective family. This important step helps ensure that the Miniature Schnauzer—already navigating the transition from their previous home—feels comfortable and connects well with all household members.
As a foster-based rescue, we do not operate a public facility. All of our dogs reside in loving, private foster homes, which means they are not available for viewing or visitation until all steps of our adoption process have been completed. This approach protects the well-being of our dogs and ensures that every interaction is purposeful and aligned with a potential forever placement.

More about this rescue

At Minneapolis Miniature Schnauzer Rescue, we guarantee that every surrendered Miniature Schnauzer will be placed in a loving home and will never face shelter life or homelessness again. Each dog receives comprehensive veterinary care, including spay/neuter procedures, vaccinations, wellness checks, and any necessary medical treatments.
Our primary communication channels are email and phone, allowing us to respond promptly and personally to each inquiry. We specialize in assisting owners who need to rehome their purebred Miniature Schnauzers, ensuring placement through a trusted and reputable rescue network.
