More about this rescue

Whisker Rescue Inc. is a Detroit-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of vulnerable cats while promoting healthier communities and more balanced urban ecosystems. We focus on humane intervention for community and stray cats through rescue, rehabilitation, veterinary care, spay/neuter, and adoption whenever possible. For cats that are socialized and able to thrive indoors, we work to prepare them for permanent, loving homes. For others in need of intervention, we provide care, stabilization, and responsible solutions that prioritize both animal welfare and long-term impact.

We started Whisker Rescue Inc. because we saw firsthand how many cats and kittens are born into unsafe, unstable outdoor conditions with little access to food, medical care, or protection. Too often, the same cycle repeats: unspayed cats continue reproducing, kittens suffer, communities become overwhelmed, and rescues are left trying to respond after the crisis has already grown. We created this organization because we believe the more humane and effective approach is to step in early, prevent suffering where possible, and give cats a real chance at safety and stability.

Our work is driven by compassion, but also by the understanding that rescue must be paired with prevention. That is why our mission includes not only saving individual cats, but also supporting spay/neuter efforts, reducing overpopulation, educating the public, and encouraging responsible, sustainable solutions. At its core, Whisker Rescue Inc. exists because every cat deserves dignity, care, and the opportunity for a better life, and because we believe communities are stronger when humane animal welfare is part of the bigger picture.
