My story

Their adoption process

When you adopt from the shelter you receive a voucher that helps cover spay or neuter, and 2 shots. If there is any balance, or additional fees, it is the owners responsibility to cover the additional fees. The voucher is only valid for CT residents.

Adoption steps

  1. Submit Application
dogs are available on adopt a pet, petfinder, facebook and fllyers are distributed locally
  2. Home Check
email aco@thompsonct.org for an application, home check if necessary, vet check is required
  3. Visit the Facility and Find a Pet
the initial visit will be with the adopter, then a second visit will be scheduled.
  4. Interview
I reccomend at least 2 meet and greet with the dog, and everyone in the houshold including children, senior relatives and dogs need to meet
  5. Approve Application
at this time if necessary a vet appointment will be scheduled for the spay or neuter.
  6. Pay Fee
Intact animals are $50, and a voucher for assistance to help cover part of the spay or neuter.
Altered animals are up to $150.
  7. Take the Pet Home
Thompson Animal Control requires a minimum of 2 night foster before adoption.

Go meet their pets

The shelter is locked at all times, to avoid random interactions with the dogs. All dogs are visible online, and then an appointment can be set up, or if the ACO van is on property during the week, then someone can stop by.
