More about this rescue

Once upon a sato,
If you’ve ever visited the breathtaking island of Puerto Rico, you’ve likely also seen the heartbreaking reality hidden behind its beauty: an estimated 650,000 stray dogs struggling to survive each day. With only four municipal shelters and a 98% euthanasia rate, countless dogs face starvation, dehydration, disease, abuse, and fear — alone and unseen.

It’s impossible to look away once you’ve seen the truth. And when our founder moved to Puerto Rico 11 years ago, she refused to do so. She saw not a crisis of strays — but thousands of potential soul dogs waiting to be loved. She stepped in, and Souls of Satos was born.

Today, our small but mighty rescue team works tirelessly to save the dogs the world forgot. We pull them from highways, beaches, construction sites, bars, forests — wherever they are abandoned — and place them into loving homes across the United States. To date, thousands of Satos have found their second chance through us.

When you adopt from Souls of Satos, you are:

Saving a life from a cruel and dangerous fate

Preventing generations of suffering, by rescuing dogs before they reproduce

Giving a dog the very thing they’ve been denied — safety, love, and family

These dogs are survivors. They are resilient, loyal, grateful, and full of love — all they need is someone willing to see their worth.

Together, we are rewriting their stories.
One Sato at a time.
