Their adoption process

Potential adopters are carefully screened to ensure we find the right forever home for the dogs and cats we rescue. Since animals live in foster homes, we get to know their personality and temperament. Our adoption process allows us to learn about you so that we can help find the perfect match for your home.

An adoption coordinator will review your application to ensure your home and lifestyle are a good match for the needs of the animal you’re interested in adopting, and contact references. Please allow 3-5 days for an adoption coordinator to contact you.

ADOPTION FEES:
Can be an be found online at www.henricohumane.org/adoptionfaq. The adoption fee covers the cost of shots, spay/neuter, microchipping and worm/flea treatments.

We host adoption events several times each month at various locations. Visit our Events Calendar online to find out where we'll be next: https://www.henricohumane.org/eventscalendar

If you are interested in a specific animal, please email dogs@henricohumane.org or cats@henricohumane.org prior to the adoption event to confirm if they will be there. Thank you!

More about this rescue

Henrico Humane Society is volunteer-run, foster-based, non-profit organization that rescues dogs and cats from across Central Virginia and places them in loving, forever
homes. We have saved saved hundreds of animals since we were founded in 1991.

We don't have a shelter so our animals live in foster homes until they're adopted, which allows us to get to know their personality and temperament. Applicants are carefully screened to ensure we find the right forever home for the dogs and cats we rescue. Our adoption process allows us to learn about potential adopters so we can help find the perfect match for their home.
