Their adoption process

After an application is approved, we then will discuss which, if any, dogs we have that are suitable to their home and experience level.
After a dog is adopted, should anything happen where the adopter can't keep the dog, they will always have a safe place to come back to.

Adoption steps

  1. Submit Application
  2. Interview
with a video home view as well
  3. Approve Application
  4. Meet the Pet
  5. Sign Adoption Contract
  6. Pay Fee
  7. Take the Pet Home

More about this rescue

The Woof Project was founded in 2008 and officially became a verified nonprofit in 2014. What began as a small, grassroots effort has grown into a powerful, foster-based, all-volunteer rescue, though we still proudly operate with the heart and grit of a small team. Over the years, we’ve expanded exponentially, recently revitalizing our leadership team and extending our reach across the entire United States and Canada.
We specialize in working with Belgian Malinois and Dutch Shepherds; two incredible, intelligent, and often misunderstood breeds, but our commitment goes beyond breed. If an animal is in need and we have a safe place for them, we step in. That’s who we are.
At our core, The Woof Project stands for:
W – Welfare
P – Protection
R – Rehabilitation
These aren’t just words, they guide every decision we make. From rescuing dogs in crisis to providing nurturing foster homes and ensuring thoughtful, lasting adoptions, our mission is rooted in compassion, advocacy, and action.
We are deeply committed to promoting responsible pet ownership and raising awareness about the overwhelming number of abandoned and mistreated dogs. Through education, outreach, and hands-on rescue work, we strive to build a community that prioritizes animal welfare and supports second chances.
As a 100% volunteer-run organization, we rely entirely on the generosity and dedication of our supporters. We are always in need of monetary donations to fund medical care and daily needs, foster homes to provide safe and loving environments, transporters to help move dogs to safety, and passionate volunteers to join our internal team.
Together, we are more than a rescue; we are a network of people committed to changing lives, one dog at a time.
