Adoption steps
- Submit ApplicationInterested adopters must have a submitted and reviewed application prior to meeting the cat(s) they are interested in.
- InterviewOnce your application has been reviewed, we will call you for a phone interview.
- Meet the PetMeet & greets at the rescue or foster home (within 1hr of Exeter). No same-day adoptions; you won’t be taking a cat home on this day.
- Approve ApplicationWe’ll review your application, interview, and meet & greet notes and determine if your home is a good fit. If they are, you’re approved!
- Take the Pet HomeAdoption day will be scheduled after one final vet appointment for a health certificate.

Spicy Cats Rescue began in 2019 with the goal of socializing two very spicy semi-feral cats: Sesame and Lentil.
We shared their story with the world and quickly learned of the overwhelming need in our community for cats like them.
Because of Sesame and Lentil, we have dedicated ourselves to helping medical and behavioral special needs cats, the ones who need us the most.
Our goal is to help any cat in need - from newborns to seniors - in the Seacoast Maine and NH area through rescue, rehabilitation, adoption, hospice, and TNR.
We shared their story with the world and quickly learned of the overwhelming need in our community for cats like them.
