Their adoption process

At Helping Outside Animals, we want to ensure every cat is placed in a safe and loving forever home. Our process includes a virtual home visit, landlord approval for renters, and a veterinary reference. All household pets must be current on vaccinations. Cats must be kept strictly indoors and we do not adopt to households that declaw. Adopters must visit a vet within one month of adoption and agree to annual vet visits. If unable to keep the animal, it must be returned to Helping Outside Animals.

Adoption steps

  2. Interview

More about this rescue

We’re a 501(c)(3) nonprofit Connecticut-based, volunteer-run animal rescue dedicated to ensuring no stray animal is left behind. Our team of passionate volunteers, each balancing full-time careers alongside their rescue work, provides comprehensive care through feeding, trapping, neutering, fostering, transporting, and medical treatment. We actively manage and maintain several feral and community cat colonies, implementing Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) programs that humanely stabilize stray populations at the source. Operating without a physical shelter, our foster homes serve as the warm, loving walls where animals heal and grow until they’re ready to find their forever families. Through meaningful partnerships with a network of reputable rescues, we bridge the gap between life on the streets and a permanent, loving home, because every animal deserves a second chance.
