Ready to get started? Your first step is to fill out an application at hlcr.org! We’re always here to help, so please feel free to reach out by email or phone with any questions.

Just a heads-up: because our checkout and microchip systems link directly to your paperwork, we will review your application together during your final meet-and-greet to wrap everything up.

Adoption steps

    We process your application in the order received. We'll contact you through phone or email. Check your spam folders!
  3. Visit the Facility and Find a Pet
    Once your appointment is scheduled, you'll visit our facility to meet your potential new pup. If all goes well they can go home then!

Founded in 1999, Highland Lakes Canine Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming dogs across Central Texas. What began as a small, foster-only network has beautifully evolved into a dedicated facility complete with a kennel, outdoor play areas, and scenic walking trails. Driven by a passionate team of staff and volunteers, we work tirelessly to give every dog the medical care and love they need until they find their perfect forever family.
