Their adoption process
You can apply to adopt or foster our pups. If your family isn't ready for the lifetime commitment of adoption, fostering is a shorter term commitment and helps save lives. If you have special circumstances that require a trial period before adoption, talk to your adoption coordinator.

Use the "Adopt" Button - Home CheckA volunteer will be in touch to request a virtual home check by photos or video.
- InterviewLet's chat on the phone or with a video call. We'd love to get to know you, so we can make the best match for your new family member.
- Approve ApplicationAfter your application is approved, we can consider which dog will best match your family and lifestyle.
- Sign Adoption ContractWe will email you the Adoption Agreement for you to sign.
- Pay FeePayments can be made through our website, our Facebook Page, Venmo and through the Petstablished website.
- Take the Pet HomeWe will arrange transfer of the pet to you through our Foster Family or Transport Coordinator.
Go meet their pets
Meetings are by appointment only. Our Rescue Centers are located in Zihuatanejo and Troncones Mexico, but we have Foster Families in San Diego, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Portland OR, Seattle WA and in Vancouver and Toronto, Canada. We can arrange virtual meets, or coordinate a meet with the foster family if you are nearby.

Surfers for Strays is a volunteer-driven 501(c)3 non-profit organization that reduces the number of stray animals in Mexico through spay and neuter programs and inspires compassion and awareness for the humane treatment of neglected animals, through education, rehabilitation and adoption programs.
