More about this shelter
The Stone County Humane Society is a 501(C)(3) private organization (not a government entity) that was formed in 1999. We provide a no kill shelter for dogs and cats but we are not an open in-take facility. Our organization is managed by a volunteer board of 10 individuals and a full-time paid employee shelter manager that handles the day to day operations, and four part-time paid employees that feed and care for the animals and keep the facility clean. Most of our daily operations are funded by proceeds from our Second Chance Resale Shop in town and donations from individuals. We also provide low cost spay/neuter to Stone County Residents.
