Founding and Mission of KAT

In 2024, KAT (Prized Possessions Kitten Advocacy Team, Inc) was founded by David and Lanae as a response to their newfound passion for fostering neonatal orphaned kittens. Their journey began with a deeply personal and impactful experience, which quickly developed into a mission to help vulnerable kittens in need.

David and Lanae’s dedication to animal welfare was sparked when they volunteered to foster two bottle-feeding litters of kittens, totaling ten tiny lives. Tragically, these kittens had lost their mothers to car accidents and were left defenseless. With no prior experience in neonatal kitten care, the couple embarked on an intensive learning process, driven by compassion, determination and love.

Caring for bottle-fed kittens is an around-the-clock commitment, requiring feedings every two to three hours, warmth regulation, and close monitoring for health issues. Despite the challenges, David and Lanae found immense joy and fulfillment in nurturing these kittens, watching them grow from fragile newborns into thriving, adoptable companions.

Inspired by their success and the critical need for foster care in the Delaware County area, David and Lanae are committed to continuing this journey. They envision KAT as a resource and safe haven for orphaned neonatal kittens, with goals to:
• Provide a nurturing and safe environment for kittens in need.
• Offer education and support to other foster caregivers.
• Advocate for spay and neuter programs to reduce the number of orphaned kittens.

KAT was born out of tragedy but transformed into a mission of love and hope. David and Lanae’s dedication to fostering neonatal kittens has already made a difference in the lives of 20+ kittens, and they remain eager to expand their efforts in the years to come. Their journey stands as a testament to the power of compassion and the profound impact of giving vulnerable animals a second chance at life.

By continuing their work, KAT is poised to be a lifeline for countless kittens in need, embodying the spirit of rescue and renewal.
