At Misfit Animal Project & Rescue, we believe in making great matches not creating unnecessary barriers.
Because we're a foster-based rescue, all potential adopters begin by submitting an adoption application. Once we've reviewed your application, we'll contact you to answer any questions, learn more about your home and lifestyle, and discuss the pet you're interested in. If it looks like a good fit, we'll schedule a meet-and-greet (or complete this process at one of our adoption events).
If everyone agrees it's a match, you'll complete the adoption contract, pay the adoption fee, and take your new family member home!
We practice a common-sense, low-barrier adoption philosophy. We evaluate each adoption individually, focusing on whether the pet is a good fit for your lifestyle not on arbitrary rules. For example, we don't require fenced yards for indoor cats or for every dog, because many wonderful dogs thrive in apartments or homes without fenced yards when their exercise and enrichment needs are met. Our goal is to set both pets and adopters up for lifelong success.

Because we are a foster-based rescue, our adoptable pets are living in loving foster homes where they're safe, comfortable, and learning what it's like to be part of a family while they wait for their forever homes.
