My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

While at Animal Care and Control, our intake directors spotted a little Rita look-alike. After careful scrutiny to make sure that she wasn't actually Rita, we decided to temperament test her anyway to see if she fit into our program. Naturally, she charmed our socks off and away she went!

Margie would be a great fit for an active person or family. Because Margie is a young gal, she will need someone dedicated to giving her adequate exercise for a pup her age... be it long walks or runs or a few days a week at daycare. Margie is very dog friendly and has been spending lots of time making friends in her doggie daycare. (Click here to see a video of Margie playing with Dakota and Finch.) When she is at adoption events, she loves to show off her toys and her curiosity about everything around her. Margie also loves to play with people as evidenced by this short video. She is now enjoying life in a foster home and we will have updates on her progress soon. One thing we have learned is that she loves to curl up in a ball on the sofa to take long naps (snoring and grunting included!)

This little ray of sunshine is quite a smart, focused little cookie. Here is an update from her foster mom:

"I wanted to give you a little update on Margie now that she's had some time to adjust. I believe at this point she is house trained, it has been well over a month since she's had any accident. She will even go outside on the command "potty". She is also well trained that "sit" means she is about to get a treat. She likes to sleep on her back with all four feet in the air like she's dead. When we are outside she will "point" with her front paw in the air to indicate the closest bird or rat (like I am going to catch it!) When she gets moving on a walk, she has a unique prance - almost like a Clydesdale or show dog. She loves to play tag with dogs and humans and is pretty good at both being chased and being the chaser. She loves other dogs and when she sees one coming she will crouch down behind a tree or curb to launch a "surprise attack." What I don't think she realizes is that at 35 lbs they always see her coming. Either way, she has not met a dog she didn't like, even the neighbor's chihuahuas who are not always the most friendly.

"She is still very high energy and needs a good amount of physical and mental stimulation. A couple long walks a day and a lot of playing in the yard are required. I also now feed her exclusively out of kongs to give her something extra to do. I think she would really do well with a job."

If you think that your active lifestyle would be a good match for this sweet gal, contact us today to meet or adopt her!
