p/>Tesla is a friendly and laid back girl who is so happy to be around people & just enjoying life. If you want a calm, older, but active hound dog then THIS IS THE GIRL FOR YOU!
She was rescued from a kill shelter the day before she was to be put down :-( Luckily now she is safe and able to stretch her legs while playing with the other dogs in her foster home :-)
Tesla is a purebred American Foxhound who was found off of a rural highway by Animal Control in May. She is estimated to be 8 years old, although she is active enough to be a 5 year old. She enjoys going for long walks with her dog pals and jogging with her foster mom. She will need daily exercise, including at least two 20+ minute walks a day.
Tesla happens to be blind in one eye, but this DOES NOT slow her down a bit.The vet thinks the blindness is the result of either a birth defect or an old untreated injury. This does not seem to affect her adversely because she acts like any other sighted dog and gets around very well. Tesla also had one mammary mass removed when she was spayed. She is now up to date on all vet work, fully vaccinated, and on heartworm preventative.
Tesla gets along with other dogs and does not seem interested in cats or rabbits. Actually, for a hunting dog breed, she has a very low prey drive.
She is fine around children, very calm, and just stands there while they pet her. She is a gentle girl, but still older and not up to little kids pulling on her tails, ears, etc. (no dog likes that after all!)
She socializes well with other dogs and when in a playful mood she will "play bow" and run around the house trying to get the other dogs to join her (they usually don't though). Tesla would do well with another dog in the house, but she is content to be by her people so much, that being the only pet would be just fine with her too!
