Addy & Shadow's story -

I had planned to just trap and release them after getting them spayed and neutered but just couldn’t turn them out. They warmed up quickly and are now extremely loving. Both have a great purr, are super easy-going and would be fine being left at home if you were traveling.

Addy – female, grey, green eyes. She is a lover, loves to be held, cuddled, and just lay in your lap. She is the older sister and acts like it =) She will pick on Shadow sometimes and then when he turns around and gets back, she will pout. She will never turn down a pet and will start dancing for you when you rub her head. She will play if you throw a ball or use a string. She is the observant one and like to keep tabs of everything going on.

Shadow – male, yellow eyes, all black. Likes to play – loves feet/shoe laces. He is goofy (just like a little brother) and floppy, when you start petting him he flops to the ground and starts stretching and rolling on his back. He’s not real comfortable being picked up, but I think that over time, more attention and gentle love he will learn to love it. He can get rascally sometimes if he is over stimulated or played with and has grabbed my hand like a play toy with a bite and his claws – he’s very smart though and will immediately let go if you firmly tell him no, he’ll get very apologetic and sometimes run away and hide. Other than that he has been gentle with his claws – we likes to roll on his back and spread his paws out, stretching up into the air.

They are very curious and playful but have been exceptionally well-behaved for having to live in our 13x10 shed. They do like to curl up and sleep together, but have separate beds as well. They are very easy going and do not cry and meow.

Addy does not like other cats besides shadow (they curl up together – it is very cute!). Towards other cats though she has the potential of getting highly defensive and swiping – especially large male cats. This is why I have not been able to keep them in the house, and need to find them a new home, as I have three other male rescued cats (going on four now)…and one starts marking when he gets stressed. =( So Addy and Shadow have been kept in the shed (it does have windows and a window door, so they are not deprives of sunlight). They have been really good and haven’t rushed the door to escape – they would make great inside only cats.

In a new home, they will be skittish for a couple days until they get used to a new place and new people. For these guys I would suggest pellet litter, they are very good at burying their stuff and the lightweight grain or clay litter tends to not stay in the box (plus the pellet litter is healthier anyway – I’ve used both recycled paper pellets and the pine pellets with them) and use a high wall box – other than that it always makes it in the right place. As mentioned both are fixed. I also treated Addy for tape worms when I got them fixed. As well as fleas. They have not had shots.

They do tend to enjoy playing with their water, so you would want to make sure you have a food mat or the water is placed on any easy clean surface – it’s not bad but they can get a little out of the bowl. Sometimes they can act afraid of people, our neighborhood is pretty rough – Shadow still gets wary of Wes occasionally just because he is male – so to get to know them and to get them comfortable, be really gentle, calm and patient for a few days with less commotion will ease the transition and make it go quicker.

On a side note, they have not been around children yet. I’d like to find these little guys a home quickly as I have other feral cats that need to be fixed that I would like to house in the shed for 24 hours after the operations.

The adoption fee of $75 covers the cost of their spay and neuter.
