My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Of all her great characteristics Freckles' most endearing qualities are her optimism and flexibility. She loves all people from young children to big men and everyone in between. She even loves to go to the vet because she gets to meet new friends. Meticulously housebroken, she enjoys a snuggle on the couch or your bed, but she also pays attention if you point out the doggy bed for her. A perfect companion and project dog, she putters from room to room or through the yard and garden asking nothing but to be near the action. While you work on the computer, she stretches out close enough to touch but never bothering anything. Loves to ride in a car, at 41 pounds she is small enough to be a good companion for a frequent traveler. She can be timid with new dogs, and will likely be the most submissive in any pack. But if they are not aggressive she will be playing whole heartedly with them in a couple of days. While she enjoys being with other dogs, human companionship is what she really craves. She would be happy in a one-dog household if her human was home a lot such as retired or working from home. As with all spaniels, Freckles loves to run so she needs acreage or a good park close by in order to enjoy optimum mental and physical health.

Most people say she looks like a small Welsh Springer or a tall cocker spaniel or short Brittany , take your pick! Her silky coat is easy to keep clean and just long enough to be luxurious without needing a lot of fussing. Her ears are long enough for that spaniel look, but stop short of dragging in the food or water bowl. Photos don't do justice to her color and shine. Topside is rich butterscotch bordering on strawberry blonde. Paws and nose white with freckles. Underside is a light cream. White tip on tail. Gold feathering on legs and tail. Easy to bathe, you will want to shampoo and groom her just for the fun of it.

She appears to be less than 2 years old, and had a litter of puppies when she was abandoned in November 2010. Adoption fee of $150 is a bargain for this spayed, vaccinated, microchipped beauty.
