My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Oscar is a 3-4 yr. old, 9-1/2 lb. chocolate & tan long-haired sweetie. He is easy to get along with, likes other dogs & cats, and knows how to use a doggie door (he's working hard on the housebreaking thing!). When Oscar came to CRT from the shelter, he had some hair loss on his hips, back legs, & rear; with good nutrition & some special shampoo, his hair is growing back in. Oscar's knees are okay, but he is rather bow-legged in the back, so he does better with short walks (though he is always eager!) rather than long walks & sometimes needs a boost into the recliner (his favorite spot). Oscar also has congenital cataracts; he is able to see just fine, but this may become more of a problem as he ages. If you are looking for a buddy to keep you company while you watch TV, Oscar is your man.

As are all CRT dogs, Oscar is neutered, HWneg, on HW preventative, has all of his shots, & is microchipped.

OSCAR UPDATE, January, 2007 - Oscar's cataracts were examined by a veterinary opthamologist. The type of cataracts he has are in the center of his eye, so he can see out the sides of his eyes. This type of cataracts frequently never progresses to the point of needing surgery, though some anti-inflammatory eye drops are recommended. At this time, Oscar has no problems getting around his foster home, knows where the dog door is, plays well with the other dogs, & participates in all household activities; he doesn't miss much! He tilts his head to see things right in front of his face or smells to see what's in your hand; that is the only effect the cataracts currently have on his eyesight. He is a happy, laid-back little guy; he'd be a great addition to anyone's family.
