My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Birthdate: 6/10/11

Gender: Male, neutered

Breed: German Shepherd/Husky mix

Siblings: Aphrodite, Titan, Thor, Zeus

Even after everything these puppies have been through, they always greet visitors with a smile on their faces and a wag in their tails.

About a month ago, a home in Berlin Center, Ohio, was raided by the dog pound. Inside the barn, they found over a dozen dogs living in deplorable conditions. The temperature inside the barn was over 100 degrees, yet the dogs had no fresh water. Sadly, one of the siblings to this litter was already dead.

When the puppies arrived here at New Lease on Life, we immediately bathed them. While we can’t say they were exactly thrilled about the whole bathing experience, it was greatly needed. All of the dirt and grime from the barn was washed down the drain, leaving only fresh-smelling puppies behind.

From there, it was off to the vet where they were checked out from head to tail. Titan and Zeus fared the best and had a clean bill of health. Aphrodite had multiple wounds on her back. From what, we don’t know. Now they are mostly healed, although she will have a lifelong reminder of them in the pure white patches of fur that have grown in those spots. And finally, we believe they tried to dock tiny Thor’s tail without a vet because he has just a little half tail that was badly healed when we got him. Now his tail still looks a little funny but it is completely healed and oh so cute when he wags it.

For the last few weeks, we have worked tirelessly to socialize the pups to make up for the life they had before. They have met other dogs, big and small (they LOVE dogs). They have met all ages of kids. The kids actually have spent the most time socializing them, so they adore kids. And they’ve even spent some time with the cats. Oh how they love cats.

We believe they are German Shepherd/Husky mixes. They do have the double coat of a Husky, so we believe they will likely shed once or twice a year, although there’s no way to know for sure at this point. We’re expecting them to reach roughly 50 pounds as adults. Aphrodite is the largest of the group by far right now.

Now all they need is the most important thing, homes. All of the puppies have been spayed/neutered, vaccinated, dewormed and flea treated, so they are ready to start their new life with your family. You can meet them at the shelter any time during adoption hours, Thursday through Sunday 5 to 8pm, or call 330–397–8270 to schedule an appt to meet them at another time or on another day.
