My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Tatum! With a smile a mile wide, this BC mix is one adorable girl – and oh, talk about a snugglebug!! Tatum is a sweet little 3 year old girl, eager to find a family of her own who will help show her the world can be a great, safe place after all.

Originally a stray from a Colorado shelter, we don’t know much about Tatum’s past, but it’s clear her former life did not involve much exposure to all life has to offer. Tatum does not have a lot of confidence in new situations, and it takes her a while to warm up to both new dogs and new people…however, once you are her friend, it’s a whole different story! Tatum loves to be with her human friends and is a world class cuddler…she loves attention, snuggling, and to put her paws up on you when you are on the sofa and bury her head in your lap, which will just about break your heart. She gets along wonderfully with her doggy buddies, both male and female, and really enjoys playing with those
willing. She’s not particularly herdy and although she’s not all that interested in toys either, she will pick up a ball if it means her foster brother will chase her! Tatum does show some interest in cats who are running, so a home with no or dog savvy cats only will be considered for this girl. Given her insecurities, Tatum is not suitable to a home with kids. Overall, she is a nice moderate energy girl, who needs a good bit of exercise daily to be happiest and at her best.

It seems unlikely anyone ever took the time to work with Tatum in her former life – but she is coming along nicely in her foster home. She’s cratetrained, nearly housetrained, walks pretty well on a leash, and shows good off-leash potential. She adores car rides and is thrilled to come along on errands! Tatum will absolutely benefit from adopters who have had a dog or two, and who are willing to continue with her basic manners training, which will not only perfect her manners but build her confidence as well. Like a lot of dogs, Tatum does show some guardyness with valued things, and will need adopters capable of working on this as well. More experience out in the world will also really be great for Tatum, and a home with another well-adjusted playful dog would be perfect. Another dog may help Tatum learn from example and become more comfortable in new situations.

Darling Tatum is a wonderful and sweet soul who just needs a little extra boost to help her blossom. For those of you drawn to the underdogs, and who have the time and willingness to work with them, taking home Tatum will mean winning a devoted and charming companion for life. Tatum is spayed, fully vetted and living in a loving foster home near Castle Rock, CO.
