My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Date of Birth: May 20, 2011
UPDATE 1/12/12
Oreo – Shih Tzu - Dachshund Mix
7 month old

This little guy was originally adopted into a home with a toddler. Although he was only in the home a couple of months, as sometimes happens with small dogs and small children, the dog was somewhat terrorized. Due to that experience he has anxiety issues with children. He cannot go to a home with children or with a high interaction with children. It also takes him a while to warm up to new adults in his life. But after he realizes he is safe, he becomes your inseparable buddy. He is well socialized with other dogs, crate and house trained. He is well behaved in the bathtub and will lay still while you comb him out.

He has the sweetest disposition. He will lay at your feet in your office or on your lap on the sofa. He seems so happy to be in a stable environment. He barks at new visitors until they sit down – and then he may hop into their lap for a snuggle or pet. After visitors have settled, he rarely ever barks in the house. He will be quite skittish with the men in the home until he realizes he is safe – then he is their best pal. (When we first received him, he hid behind my couch for 2 days when his foster dad was around)

He loves to romp in the fenced yard with the other dogs – both large and small. He is up to date on all shots and on heartworm preventative. The Veterinarian did notice he may have to have two baby teeth pulled as he gets older.

Oreo will make a wonderful addition to his forever home. He will be that loyal companion who is so happy to have a peaceful stable home environment.

Oreo is 11# of happy Shih Tzu-Dachshund puppy. Imagine a Dachshund body that's covered with long Shih Tzu fur  -  that's him! He loves to run and play and gets along well with dogs that are accustomed to an active youngster. Oreo is sleeping in his crate at night until we are sure he is housetrained. He loves to take naps with his people and adores being rubbed or brushed. Because he's young and active, a fenced yard and adult home are required for little Oreo. He makes everyone smile.
