Nilles is at the Oakley Petsmart if you would like to see him in person.

For a juvenile, Nilles has encountered a lot of challenges in his short life, and he responds each time with dignity and a putt putt purr.

Nilles came to the OAR s/n clinic as a young, tame kitten slated to live outdoors in a rural colony. His left eye had been injured so clinic staff worried as to how he would fare outside. He was neutered and ear-tipped before a release by the colony caregiver could be obtained. Rather than go back to his colony, Nilles went immediately into OAR fostercare along with a littermate. The two were very bonded although poor Nilles got additional eye injuries from kitten wrestling. Nilles' brother was quickly adopted and Nilles cried a lot after he left. Nilles continued to receive care for the eye. Another foster kitten came to the home and while at first, she didn't want to be friends and scared Nilles, eventually, they warmed to each other and became good pals. They played a lot. Nilles stopped pining for his brother. The second kitten accidentally scratched poor Nilles on his bad eye, but he was tough and didn't cry. Then she got adopted. And Nilles was sad. The need to remove the eye became apparent so the operation happened. Nilles was a model patient. He recovered quickly, was playful with his favorite string and wand toys four days after surgery. He never once needed to wear 'the cone of shame'. He took his meds like a champ and was the house favorite in his foster-home. The place where the eye was has healed beautifully and should need no further medical care. Rather than go for a third foster playmate for Nilles, it's time for him to have a home of his own. Nilles [obviously] gets along quite well with cats that are friendly and like to play. His 'Nanna' cat, aka Uncle Fritz, served as the stand in playmate for Nilles. Nilles is shy with people at first, and is more of a secret admirer. If you are watching TV, he is apt to come over and stand nearby. If you pick him up and put him on your lap, he will snuggle down and purr. He is handsome and noble, like a knight. He would never bite or hiss or scratch a person. He has excellent litterbox manners and never scratched any furniture in the foster home. Nilles is a model citizen. He should run for political office (but only if he can serve from his forever home.)
